For Gourmet magazine’s Paris issue, I created a story centered on Raquel Carena and the internationally inflected cuisine of her Belleville bistro Le Baratin. The joy of making Carena’s story come to life with photographer John Kernick involved working around Le Baratin’s tiny pair of dining rooms and railroad kitchen. Against all odds I was determined to capture in photos Carena’s nonstop energy as she served up her sublimely delicious food in the perfect Parisian bohemian setting.
